About Us

Formed in 2011 M&D Structural Engineering Ltd’s Founder Member and Director, Chartered Structural Engineer, Mark Whelband brings 21 years’ experience to the company.

Mark completed a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Civil Engineering at Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1992, a Masters Degree in Structural Steel Design at Imperial College, London in 1994 and Chartership Status in 2002 with the Institution of Structural Engineers.

After completing academic study, 3 years were spent working for Structural Consulting Engineers before moving to the highly regarded Steel Fabricator Rowen Structures Ltd. Over the next 9 years considerable knowledge and expertise was gained working on large and medium sized structural steel ‘design and build’ and connection design projects ranging from 250 tonnes to 12000 tonnes.

Following Rowen Structures, a further 5 years were spent working for Adey Steel Ltd, as Structural Engineering Manager, specialising in both the primary and secondary steelwork markets.
